This season saw the Questa Farmers Market grow and serve our local community and visitors. We were joined by Cerro Vista Farm, three local (Questa/El Rito) gardens, and folks from Costilla, San Cristobal, and Sunshine Valley.

Every Sunday the vegetable crops showed the subtle changing of the seasons.

This summer the QFM became an EBT/SNAP authorized market, so we were able to accept food stamps on site. The market also registered with the NM Department of Health and began accepting WIC and Senior Nutrition checks.

We did this to better serve our community and to make sure fresh, local foods were eligible for these benefit programs. Also, this is a help to food producers who sell eligible items (especially fruits, herbs, and vegetables). We hope this will encourage more sellers to join us and welcome more buyers to the market.

Looking to next season, we’d love more farmers and gardeners to participate, and, in general, more vendors selling those items that fit into the staple food groups, grown or produced within 80 miles of Questa.

 

There were a variety of qualifying foods this season – all of our fresh produce, plus pies, tortillas, breads, jellies, honey and more.

This season we were well-stocked, well-fed, and entertained.

 

Next year we will support more musicians and artists, and we plan to host live music or special performances every market day with your help and input. This year we loved the music (special thanks to each musician – you made it!), enjoyed Los Flamencos by Puppet Theatre los Titiriteros (wonderful!), and witnessed CHICHARRONES made before our eyes!

 

 

Our vendors offered great Sunday lunch options, plenty of treats and pour-over style direct trade coffee from Iconik Coffee Roasters in Santa Fe.

Thank you for visiting the Questa Farmers Market, for keeping dollars local, and giving your support all summer into fall.

In case you missed us we were out on Sundays from June-Oct, noon-4 pm, in the Questa Visitor Center parking lot, East of the Questa stoplight. Look for us next season!
